A good alternative to buying a new piano is to either buy a restored one or to
have your own piano refurbished.
Old pianos were made using high quality materials and were built to last. Many
will have sounded beautiful for more than a hundred years with very little
maintenance. Steeped in history and full of character, old pianos increase in
value when properly cared for, and restored to their former glory, can be
enjoyed by future generations.
Gerald Masters will use his lifetime of experience to make an assessment and advise you on the needs of your piano. Repairs can consist of small tasks such as freeing a sticky key or replacing a broken pedal, through to major refurbishments which could involve, for example, stripping the piano down and replacing the tuning pins and felts.
Minor repairs can be carried out at your home, school or church. If substantial work is needed the internal piano action can be taken away and the external casing left in place.
Gerald also repairs grand pianos.
To put the finishing touch to any restoration work, the Chew Valley Music Man offers a French polishing service, which will return the instrument to its former beauty.
